What Do Herpies Look Like?

Genital Herpies - Looks like blisters or pimples in the genital area. It can be passed through sexual intercourse to your sexual partners. It is caused by the HSV-1 strain of the herpies virus. Here are some pictures of genital herpes.

Fever Blisters - Look like small blisters, usually on the lower lip. They can also appear around the eyes and in severe cases can cause blindness. Care should be taken to insure that you do not touch blisters on your lip and then rub your eyes.

You can also transfer the virus from your lips to your genital areas. Make sure that if you do touch a cold sore or fever blister that you wash your hands immediately.

This is the most common form of the herpes virus. It is caused by the HSV-2 strain of herpes. It usually appears as a blister on the bottom lip. There is no known cure although there are treatments that are known to reduce the number of flare-ups.

Shingles - This form of the herpes virus, is the remnants of an earlier infection of Chickenpox probably from childhood. It usually shows up in the torso area and appears to be small blisters. There is no known cure once you are infected although there are medications that help to reduce the time they last and the discomfort that is caused.
